June 14th, 2011
As part of his residency at Grizedale Arts Charlie Tweed leads a day of talks at the Coniston Institute inspired by The Coming Insurrection. The day will consist of a series of talks by local people who have diversified their practice in a radical way.
We will consider new models for self-sufficiency, diversification and radical local activity and explore how these can be useful models for art practice and arts organisations in the future. Areas covered will include Transition Towns and local resilience, permaculture as a model for growing and living, new models for rural business, sustainable building and creative practice. Speakers include: Lakeland Permaculture, Charlie Whinney, Jonathan Denby and Adam Sutherland and Karen Guthrie. The talks will be followed by a meal and film screening at the institute.
